with a Scottish Twist

The Works of poet Robert Burns – 25 January 1759 – 21 July 1796
Burns Night is thought to have been observed by the Burns Club of Greenock in the Scottish Lowlands in 1802, six years after his death.
Putney Rotary is delighted

A MUUURRRRDER MYSTERY on BURN’S NIGHT!
Putney Rotary Club hosted our very first Burns night, celebrating being 96 years young this year – how time has flown!
On the 28th January 1925, the inaugural meeting of Putney Rotary Club was held…. learn more about our Club History…and every day we are adding to it. “People of Action” we have all pledged to be.
Not only was it our first Scottish-themed Burns night, with a nod to the famous poet, but our first online Murder Mystery! It was lovely to have special guests from other Rotary Clubs and lovely to have Wandsworth Mayor Jane and her husband Armold. We inducted our newest member, Fabiola too – a lovely 96th Birthday celebration!
🏴 A nod to Scottish poet Robert Burns with a wee dram…Jonathan gave a Toast to the Lassies below.
🏴 Who Dunnit? We played our first online Murder Mystery game and Jean was the culprit, with a brilliantly acted confession!
🏴 Spinning Wheel Raffle – Arnold snapped up the 12 yr old Glenfidich, Ati won the chocolates and Chiara took away bubbles – thanks Angela for doing the raffle honours!
🏴 Robert Burns Poetry Reading – Fab reads from Angela, Liz, Soumen, Nigel, Gill, Richard and Ati.
🏴 Best Dressed – Ati looked gorgeous in her Scottish attire, and Paddy was a close runner up with her glamorous head scarf. Everyone made a huge effort, wonderful.
🏴 96th Birthday Quiz – Birthday Girl, Chiara, put together a great mini Quiz with Putney Rotary History, On this Day… and Scottish Trivia – great questions!

Putney Rotary Club is celebrating in style at the Civic Suite in Wandsworth, celebrating being 100 years young this year - contributing a century of work to the local community and abroad.

This is traditionally Robert Burn's night, and during Covid, for our 96th Birthday we had a Scottish 🏴 night to remember with a Murder Mystery game, raffle, poetry reading and quiz. Read about it here!
