The Challenge – Collections with Covid-19
Putney Rotary Club is very active doing humanitarian work in Wandsworth. Whilst fundraising is only a small part of what we do, it is vital in order for us to be able to do projects in our local community and abroad.
For over 40 years, Putney Rotary Club has asked Santa to help in their fundraising campaign in early December before he gets really busy sorting out pressies for the kids, and delivering them worldwide.
Santa Claus is joins the Putney Rotary members in their sleigh, bringing Christmas Carol music and cheer to Putney and posing for selfies with the kids.
Ways our Community gets involved:
- Spread the word on Social Media – thank you for sharing our cause on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIN and Instagram.
- Thank you to all our Santa Sleigh collectors – every night Santa’s helpers knock on our friendly neighbour’s doors and collected donations.
- Donate to Putney Rotary Club – we know there are many needy causes, especially given the Covid-19 Pandemic, so thank you for supporting us at this difficult time, to continue our valuable humanitarian work in our local Wandsworth Community and abroad.

The Solution – Soldier on with care
Putney Rotary was able to bring Santa to visit Putney on 3 of the 4 nights! We are very grateful to the Police and Wandsworth Council for granting us permission to carry on our volunteering work this December 2020.
Annual Santa Collection
We brought Santa and cheer, and in return our community supported us with smiles and donations, and happy conversations!
Monday 14th Dec, Wednesday 16th Dec and Saturday 19th Dec. Unfortunately London went into Tier 4 Lockdown, so our Tuesday evening was cancelled.
Special thanks to:
1. Metropolitan Police Wandsworth for granting us our annual license.
2. Wandsworth Council for helping us get the Santa Sleigh operational.
3. Our Rotary Volunteers – We have no salaries to pay, so 100% of donations (less any card processing fees) go directly to the projects we support. We couldn’t do this without our wonderful members and friends.
